Celebrating Dyslexia -Identifying Strengths, Building Confidence and Boosting Self Esteem by Claire Harvey, Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity
Talk Description:
Dyslexia is often discussed in terms of challenges, but it also brings many unique strengths. This talk explores the positive attributes commonly associated with dyslexia and how recognising these strengths can help to build confidence and maintain healthy self-esteem.
This talk will briefly touch on some of the challenges dyslexic learners may face with aspects of learning and why they may be at risk of low confidence and self-esteem. But most importantly, this talk will explore a more strength-based understanding of dyslexia, where dyslexic strengths and skills are celebrated and can be used to support learning. It will also offer some practical strategies for building confidence and boosting self-esteem.
